Your Partner in Government Contracts

Enlighten Design & Marketing is Your Partner in Government Contracts

Government contracting is one of the most competitive industries in the nation. To get ahead, your brand doesn’t need to just stand on its own, it needs to shine. Enlighten Design & Marketing’s team is experienced at tailoring messaging and materials specifically targeted for government contracts.

We tailor your brand messaging to emphasize your company’s value and professionalism within the dynamics of government work, highlighting your success and service benefits.

Let’s discuss how Enlighten Design & Marketing Can Empower your brand today!

Reliable Marketing Without the Strain

Government contracting is already busy and stressful. Why spend the time and resources managing your marketing when you have access to marketing specialists that aren’t nearly the cost of an in-house team? Enlighten Design & Marketing works tirelessly to strengthen your presence and marketing appeal, allowing you to focus on providing the best contract fulfillment to your customers. From proposal design to website content, we are your source for all marketing needs. Your content will align with contract goals and let your professionalism and past success shine through the pile of bids.

Winning government contracts starts with a capability statement that stands above the rest.

Government contracting is one of the most competitive industries in the nation. As more organizations turn towards this lucrative and secure income source, it’s vital that your company position itself for success.

A capability statement is your first step in getting noticed by government agencies and is what will open the door for you to submit a proposal. This statement is comprised with a minimum of:

  • Core competencies
  • Past performance details and accolades
  • Company differentiators
  • Corporate data
  • Contact information
  • NAICS and PSC Codes
  • Cage Code
  • Duns Number

All these components must highlight your capabilities and qualifications, while also being brief. This is your elevator speech, carefully structured and targeted towards individual agencies. At Enlighten Design & Marketing, we work with you to structure the content and presentation of your capability statement for maximum impact. We do this by compiling your defining traits and accomplishments with brand messaging that speaks directly to the agency. Let us write and design the capability statement while you prioritize your time towards the business itself.

capability statement Q & A

Like it or not, your capability statement is your business resume. Remember the process of applying for a job with a cover letter? And how each job application needed to have the resume tweaked and a new cover letter? This is same process but for your business. A capability statement is your company’s resume and it needs to shine. Often times, it’s a requirement for pursuing government contracts.

Your company owns the final product of the capability statement.

Capability statements require a $250, non-refundable, deposit, per capability statement, to begin the project. At the completion of your capability statement, we will invoice you for the remainder of the bill. The $250 non-refundable deposit is applied to the invoice of the capability statement. Should you decide to cancel the capability statement with Enlighten Design & Marketing, your non-refundable deposit is considered a cancellation fee of the project.

Capability statement services can be paid by ACH (e-check) or by company business check.

A standard capability statement is a one given to Enlighten Design & Marketing 15 days or more from due date assigned.

A rush capability statement is a one given to Enlighten Design & Marketing 14 days or less to the due date assigned. The cost of a capability statement considered a “rush” starts at $1000. We prefer to be able to schedule everything out, however, we understand that last minute opportunities occur! Please note, if you have active applications submitted with government agencies that have not been approved, a rush capability statement option may not be available.

Your finished capability statement file will be a high-resolution PDF. This makes it easy to print when you are required to provide printed copies, it allows you to share it with others, or place on your website for anyone to download. It also allows you to meet the requirement of the document being “searchable”.

If all the information is available before beginning, it can be pretty quick. Often times, information needed may be processing in a government system, so it takes longer. An average completion time is 30 days but can be as long as 60-90 days at times if you are waiting on sam.gov certification, set-aside certification, or any other government process.

You are required to provide generic company information, service codes, DUNS number, Cage code, core competencies, differentials, social platforms, set-aside certifications, images, team member information, and any other information needed to complete your document. We provide you with a questionnaire to complete this process. You are required to review your drafts and sign off acknowledging our services meet your satisfaction.

We create your capability statement to showcase your company as competent, experienced, and the company that should be chosen. We work with you to create verbiage that is easy to read and understand at-a-glance and design your document to match your branding requirements. As your chosen marketing company, our goal is to create an aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-understand document to aid in successful government contracts.

Absolutely! We can create PowerPoint presentations that can provide this to you in PDF form, video form, or PowerPoint form. PowerPoint form is the only form you will be able to easily edit should you need to. We can also assist in proposal development. You can read about this on this web page as well. We can also create leave-behinds, a popular item or document for potential clients, or any other print media you could desire. These services are an additional charge.

To begin with, the owner of Enlighten Design & Marketing and the single point-of-contact for your company, have a discussion about the purpose and intent of the capability statement. What happens next depends on how you want to move forward and what works best for you. Every company has a different way of doing things and we try to work with everyone based on that. Our suggestion is allowing Enlighten Design & Marketing to create an initial capability statement with the “framework” of structure. Then, have the client review it to make sure both companies are on the same page. Once agreed upon, we fill in the capability statement with details. Once complete, the client reviews the document.

We keep files for a while generally speaking; however, we do clear out our servers. We cannot guarantee keeping it. We suggest always saving your finished file so you can reference it down the road.

Absolutely not. Successfully being chosen for a project is a mix of a well written, attractive capability statement, a well-developed relationship with the owners or agency, a stellar reputation in the community, and being qualified in what you do. The capability statement you submit is the final piece of this puzzle; however, it’s also happens to be the piece of this puzzle that owners and agencies select their winner with. You can have everything else, but when your capability statement is a mess, your chances of success are not as high.

Presentation – When your capability statement is with a stack of competitors, your capability statement should be looked at first. We develop your capability statement to be aesthetically beautiful and easy to read.

Availability – Do you have enough time in your day? Probably, not. Capability statements developed correctly take (at a minimum) half a day if you compiled it in one sitting. Reality is, it doesn’t happen that way because you are pulling information and documents from different sources. Working with us, you are able to focus on the most important pieces, while we are developing the end product.

Development – Like it or not, your capability statement is a resume. The narrative depends on if you are in fact qualified for the project, if you have bad press to work around, etc. We work with you to develop a perspective in your capability statement that works to your advantage.

Compliance – So much information, so many chances to be “kick out of the running” by a technicality. We are another set of eyes to ensure you have answered everything in its fullest capacity. Don’t have your company disqualified because you missed simple information a government agency would want to read.

Certified Woman Owned Company – We are a certified, woman-owned company through WBENC. If you have a requirement to work with set aside government companies, we are an option! (If you qualify for certification of woman-owned, minority-owned, veteran-owned, or service-disabled veteran-owned, and you are not yet certified, we should talk!)

Experience – We have 7+ years of experience developing government documents. Originally creating these for a general contracting company, then stepping out and doing it for other clients, we understand sometimes you aren’t fully qualified for the project, but you are the best choice. We work with you to give you the best chance of success.

Proposal Development Q & A

Like it or not, your proposal is a storyline. The narrative depends on if you are in fact qualified for the project, if you have bad press to work around, etc. We work with you to develop a perspective in your proposal that works to your advantage. With a partnership of teamwork, we will work together to create well thought out answers, beautiful photograph layouts, splash client testimonials and other fun facts throughout the proposal where applicable. Every proposal is unique because every project is unique and deserves to be treated as such.

Proposal production is the act of literally putting the proposal together. RFPs and RFQs often have specific requirements such as “five bound copies” with “one original”. They will often require each section to have “tabs” and a “corresponding table of contents”. This requires pre-planning to make sure the page layout is set so tabs can be placed correctly, or so sections correspond correctly with other requirements of the RFP or RFQ. Have you ever needed to place a project schedule in an 8.5 x 11 format, but the schedule needs to be printed on 11 x 17 paper? We can handle that.

Project compliance is making sure ever “T” is crossed and every “I” is dotted. We become a second set of eyes for you, making sure there is zero reason for your company to be disqualified on a technicality. This is especially important if your relationship with the owner isn’t as strong as you would like it to be.

Your company owns the final product of the proposal.

Proposal development requires a $500, non-refundable, deposit. At the completion of your proposal, we will invoice you for the remainder of the bill at $125 / hr. The $500 non-refundable deposit is applied to the invoice of the proposal. Should you decide to cancel the proposal with Enlighten Design & Marketing, your non-refundable deposit is considered a cancellation fee of the project.

Proposal development services can be paid by ACH (e-check) or by company business check.

A standard job is a job given to Enlighten Design & Marketing 15 days or more from due date assigned. This is charged at a standard hourly rate of $125/hr.
A rush job is a job given to Enlighten Design & Marketing 14 days or less to the due date assigned. This is charged at a rush hourly rate of $175/hr. We prefer to be able to schedule everything out, however, we understand that last minute opportunities occur!

Your finished proposal file will be a high-resolution PDF. This makes it easy to print when you are required to provide printed copies. It also allows you to meet the upload requirement, or USB requirement in some RFPs and RFQs.

Every proposal is different; this is why we charge by the hour. In addition to the design and development time spent, there is the time spent in “back and forth” conversations. Some companies only have a handful of conversations and others have 10+ conversations. We treat every proposal as an individual project.

You are required to provide the generic answers for your proposal, project images, and signed documents required by the RFP. Every RFP or RFQ is different and treated individually so these there may be more items needed from you. You are required to review your drafts and sign off acknowledging our services meet your satisfaction.

Absolutely! We can create whatever you would like as a leave behind. The most popular is a 4-page brochure style document summarizing your abilities and why you should be chosen. If allowed by the owner, it provides something for them to access and read at a later time after the presentation is complete (and after they have listened to other companies’ presentations as well). This is an additional charge.

What happens next depends on how you want to move forward and what works best for you. Every company has a different way of doing things and we try to work with everyone based on that. Our suggestion is allowing Enlighten Design & Marketing to create a shared folder, with subfolders labeled like the RFP, and then having you place the needed verbiage, images, and documents into the corresponding folders. Once a draft is completed, it’s sent for you to review. Then we make sure your changes. This happens two or three times typically. On the day your proposal is due, we make ourselves available that morning for any last-minute changes needed.

Production – Let’s face it, we have all began the printing process and realized the page numbers were off and now the required tabs can’t be placed in the corresponding sections. We make sure this doesn’t happen to you. When you print, your sections will be laid out accordingly so each tab can be placed in the correct place when printed.
